Why you should care when someone tweets About your lunch
About two years ago I talked about Twitter in a seminar for the first time. There was a guy in a bad mood on the back of the room sat with arms crossed all the time. At the end of the presentation asked, "Why me matter what someone ate for lunch? "
Everyone laughed.
I saw a version of that type in seminars and conferences for the next lot 18 months.
Twelve months ago the people stopped laughing when asked that question.
About six months ago began to mumble a bit when he did the question.
And then disappeared.
Much has changed in the last 18 months in the way we communicate, both socially and professionally. According to a recent report by Forrester third of us now update our state … telling our friends and fans what we're doing in real time on social networks like Twitter and Facebook. We provide a snapshot of what we are doing, what we think, we're talking about, and what worries us. Why is it important for us as traders?
Well, first I have real time access to almost any demographic that we care to know.
What working mothers in the care of Pittsburgh in this moment? What Chicago CTO worry? What hospital CEOs rely on technology? Dive in and check status updates.
Look, the good thing about status updates is that there is no reason for consumers residing in them. Focus groups? You get lies. There is the guy who always agree with the moderator. It is the woman who always agrees. Telephone surveys? Between getting dinner on the table and get the kids to soccer the person at the other end of the line is going to say everything I can to hang up the phone.
But the status updates? Well, consumers are honest using micro Internet Blogging Sites like Twitter. There is no incentive to mislead. In fact, the only way a user can get value to post status updates is whether the changes are correct.
Secondly, we state updates give marketers the opportunity to participate live meaningful conversations with consumers. Someone with the software, stay at your hotel or visiting the hospital? You can know when you interact with your brand and help improve the experience you have. Here's how to get to this screen, the gym is open until 10 pm or if there are bathrooms in the waiting room.
And if I am the owner of a restaurant, a wholesaler of pasta or dentist, you better believe I care what someone had to lunch.
